Feel a bit like: [adopts gruff Yorkshire accent] ā€œAah twas LOADS better in tā€™olden days when you wrote XHTML on punch cards and did table layouts with GIFs and scrolling marquee elements and accessed tā€™Internet over a screechy 9600 baud modem using FreeServe. Them were the days.ā€

Of course, this roughly translates to:

Drivers:

STOP DELIBERATELY DRIVING YOUR SODDING GREAT BIG METAL BOXES AT ME AND MY BIKE COS Iā€™D QUITE LIKE TO GET HOME TO MY WIFE AND KIDS IN ONE PIECE!!

Iā€™ll be ridiculously polite about my bike ride home today.

Drivers:

In the dark itā€™s harder to judge distances & speeds. Iā€™m seeing a worrying trend of people mis-judging these things.

So please do remember that cyclists probably needs more time and space than you think.

Here, back in 2018, I sense that change is afoot. Iā€™m not sure if it will be big change or small change. Hoping to explore some ideas in the coming week!

I donā€™t really know what to say about war. Iā€™ve never been close to the military. But Iā€™ve paused and reflected and remembered and prayed. Iā€™ve spent time among the poppies and silhouettes at St Augustineā€™s. Iā€™m grateful for the sacrifice of others and sad for their loss.

One thing that really struck me from parent’s evening yesterday. Our kid reads. A LOT. He devours books. And teacher said something like “it all starts with reading”.

Read with your small children. It doesn’t matter what. Comics, picture books, newspapers, novels. Enjoy reading!

This will be incredibly convenient. But also, said shop has ā€œsilly aislesā€! So who knows how many random power tools, pairs of ā€œwork bootsā€, kitchen appliances and boxes of craft equipment will end up in our house.

In other news: Tomorrow a supermarket opens AT THE END OF MY ROAD!!

Not a few streets away. Not down-the-road-around-the-corner-along-a-bit-and-turn-right.

Actually, literally, AT THE END OF MY ROAD!!!

Curious, by the way, I think would count as my favourite work, because of its beautiful double meaning. I think of someone asked me to describe myself in one work, it would be ā€œcuriousā€.

#WordPress Given the accessibility issues, isn’t the solution to launching Gutenberg at #WCUS to have it opt-in on update/install and with an option to opt back out if you decide you don’t want it?

Which is kinda how I ALWAYS said it should be released?
