I hate the name âDaily Greatnessâ, but going to ty to start using this again. I donât use the business parts of it much. But I like the weekly/daily planning and time-blocking and creative/motivational aspects.
Some things on the internet are inexplicably difficult. e.g. Bloom (WordPress email opt-in plugin) + MailChimp + Groups + GDPR fields. They really do NOT work together.
Yet.

It seems that MailChimpâs own forms are the only way to set their GDPR consent on a new user. Is this right? Or can I pass it in using the API?
Huh. Interesting day. Mostly admin, but ended with realising that Bloom (WordPress Plugin) + MailChimp Groups + MailChimp GDPR forms really doesnât work – whichever way you slice it! And most of my workarounds to get it working weâre fruitless too.
Man, embedding your own video on micro.blog and Mastodon is painful.
More holiday fun: loved Glendurganâs gardens – especially the maze!
Fun with automata at Falmouth Arts Museum
I try not to post about being ON holiday. But Iâm back from a fantastic trip to Devon and Cornwall. The chaos resumes!!
#css Well if I havenât been using :before and :after incorrectly all these years… https://css-tricks.com/to-double-colon-or-not-do-double-colon/
This will be a bit boring for people that know me, but I wanted to start writing more about what Iâm up to (learning and working and life) and this serves as an introduction and background.
What I (actually) do! : https://rosswintle.uk/2018/08/what-i-actually-do/
Todayâs little writing: Things that are harder when youâŠSTOP EATING THE GRASS LIKE A DOG!!!
All this mass of user interface in the WordPress #Gutenberg editor and can I work out how to turn a paragraph into an unordered list?
No. I cannot.
Still not convinced I can sell this âexperienceâ to clients.
The brilliant Chaz Hutton on drawing comics, even if you canât draw!

Today, I took the boy to a cartoon-drawing workshop in a library. A brilliant free activity. I didnât quite know what I was getting into, but I think I had more fun then he did! https://rosswintle.uk/2018/08/cartooning/
Some in my industry rally against the use of the knowledge-assuming word âjustâ. (As in âJust do this thingâ)
But you can avoid the word âjustâ and still assume a heap of knowledge and make someone feel stupid.
Maybe I should be posting more about what I do, rather than what others are doing. ButâŠthere are challenges in that. https://rosswintle.uk/2018/08/what-i-do/
Creating and Consuming – why this is a tricky thing to get the balance of, and why I want to try and get back to creating: https://rosswintle.uk/2018/08/creating-and-consuming/
I confess, this is not really the day I had planned.
If all the broken things could fix themselves that would be awesome.
Thanks.
Weird A’ Level results/going to Uni fact: The grades I needed to get my first choice Uni place were a LOWER points score than my second choice Uni.
(Do they still assign “points” to grades?)
