š Second book Iāve read recently: Alastair Campbellās āLiving Betterā.
Which wasnāt what I expected. And was also disappointing as a result.

š Iāve actually FINISHED some books recently. Starting to write them up!
First off, Seth Godinās āTribesā, which was disappointing. I had high expectations!
There little free web puzzles/games are fun:
š¤ When I come out the other side of this very intense phase of life they call middle-age, Iām going to be more of a nerd than Iāve ever been!!!!!
āļø I very much have a chill day off of everything.
I have lots to write.
I may blog a lot.
That was weird. Back from a trip to my in-laws. About 130 miles.
On the way there our EV did about 4.2 miles/kWh. We started at 100% and ended with 9%.
On the way back we got 4.8 miles/kWh. Started at 100% and ended with 22%.
No A/C or heating on either way. Similar conditions.
Iāve never known a discrepancy like this. Did we just have a strong headwind?
Did someone say or boost something here about links to HTML IDs not being reliable? Iām sure I saw something but canāt find it.
I know this was all very well considered. But I find it baffling that WordPress always comes to the conclusion that the best thing to do would be to reinvent the wheel⦠and the tyre⦠and the axle, creating maintenance burden on its own developers; making people that already understand wheels learn the new wheel; and hampering developers that learn the new wheel because their wheel is different to everyone elseās. And for what benefit? I donāt get it.
I've kinda run out of interesting things to do with Turbo Admin, so instead of doing useful real world stuff, I'm building fun easter eggs! š
YES! I DID IT!!!
#WordPress plugin actions from Turbo Admin.
I wanted this for SO long. It was harder than you'd think.
Will be in a release soon.
And yes, plugins do weird stuff that might mean this is messy. I don't care. I do the basics. I can't handle every situation. It's flippin dark magic as it is!!
š I donāt mean to be trite or dismissive of all the bad stuff in the world, but we need to laugh more and be excited about small things.
I love Dave and Chris on Shop Talk Show podcast. They just sound like theyāre having a good time chatting.
I love The Vergecast. Theyāre enjoying hanging out.
So much ācontentā is stale and boring and safe.
I want to hear more people enjoying themselves.
JavaScript question/helpā¦
Context: Iām building a bunch of DOM elements from an array of configuration objects.
The objects might have callbacks that need to be called on events on the created DOM elements.
Question: Is it OK to just add the callbacks as ācustom propertiesā on the DOM elements when creating them? Is that bad for some reason? Is there a better way?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. This is vanilla JS. No framework!!
Today I was reminded that a well known Laravel guy made an interesting-looking #WordPress plugin release automation service!
This is good. Outlining is apparently something I take for granted, but others donāt? I'm not sure it's the advertised 10x speed improvement. But definitely a better way of approaching some tasks.
So what happened today that made loads of the Uk decide Twitter is bad?
Note: You need to turn this on in the options box!
Turbo Admin for #WordPress update today. v1.16.0 fixes a bug discovered by Phil Kurth (https://philkurth.com.au/) – thank you – and introduces a new menu-hiding feature.
This is great if you have a cluttered left-hand admin menu. You can alt/option-click items to move them to a new expandable section and then just access those items using the command palette! Yay! This is early/experimental – let me know what you think.
Ahh, I like Rhysās newsletter. #WordPress, SEO and gaming. Whatās not to like? And heās just a nice chap! š

What's a #WordPress plugin that totally unnecessarily adds a top-level menu item? (In your opinion)
Creating a settings page for a browser extension isn't that hard after all. Mostly re-used code from the pop-up.
This opens up whole worlds of stuff for Turbo Admin!!!
