I’m very excited that I actually get to use my computer science background in my work this week. 😃
I feel very smart.

Remembered recently that I have this really neat little app called "Play" for queueing up and watching YouTube vids.
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/play-save-videos-watch-later/id1596506190
Works on iPhone and Mac and syncs with iCloud.
Share videos from YouTube using the share sheet on mobile. Curate a watch-later list from there.
Watch picture-in-picture on iOS! 🙌
Escape the algorithm and curate your own watch list.
Watched this Hands On with Meta's fancy new prototype glasses.
I'm not a fan of Meta at all. But as a technology prospect this is:
– Way way WAY more appealing than the Vision Pro
– Still not appealing at all – why would I want my computer on my face – it's hard enough to keep my phone in my pocket! Notifications sent to my eyeballs? No thanks!
Can people familiar with gaming terminology ( @rhyswynne ?) explain why Balatro desscribes itself as “Roguelike”?
I rarely click random videos in my feed. I’m usually looking for something. But…
I have so many questions!!!
Tra-la-laa. So…. What’s going on in the tech world? Anything fun that I should know about?
Some fun project? Some generous sharing of knowledge?
I might have to build another silly web game. Any requests?
🙈🙉🙊
ShuffleDuck (little game I built this weekend) is very silly ridiculously competitive. 🤣
I've styled it now too – bit of a TaskMaster theme.
It's pass-and-play. Just hold the red button for power, release your duck, and annoy your friend!
I can’t be bothered with drama. I occupied myself with fun.
This stupid pass-and-play game is an homage to Season 12 Episode 9 of Taskmaster.

I’ll style it better at some point but in the meantime time…
SHUFFLE DUCK!!
We have started naming the rest of the Whole Family. It’s not as easy as we thought.
The dad is Douglas Alexander Whole
The mum is Chiara Whole (Chi for short)
The daughter is Philippa Whole
There is a cousin who married into the Black family and double-barreled their name too.
Here are some emojis…
😯😦😧😱😥🙄🤨🧐🤯🤷😡😬🤐
I want to make a stupid new web game.
What shall it be?
Oooh, the TaskMaster shuffle-board thing!!!
Let's see…
Made an accidental good joke today while intending to make a bad one.
My wife was sarcastically reading that “This delicious vegetarian recipe is great for the whole family”
Me: Is that Mr and Mrs Whole and their children?
Wife: 🤨
Me: don’t they have a daughter called Philippa?
Wife: 🤨
Me: like “Pip”. “Pip hole”. “Piip hole”… “Peep hole?”
Wife: Oh. I thought you meant “Fill-up-a hole!”
😂😂
I read this headline to my wife and she said “Is that a cryptic crossword clue?” 😂

I bought 9 CDs today. Yes. CDs.
Why?
Because in my new office I found a reasonably good speaker with an iPod dock.
And then I remembered I had an old iPod lying around.
And you can still sync music to it.
But only music you own. None of the DRM’d streaming stuff.
So I've bought a bunch of pre-loved CDs that I intend to rip and copy to my iPod.
Living the dream!
Might buy a BluRay player next and update my old DVD collection!
I am very curious about how "Pinkary” – the social network that seems to mostly be Laravel folks – handles data protection, disputes, DMCA takedowns, spam, and moderation. Is it just based on the idea that everyone is nice and we have a Re:CAPTCHA?
(Yes I know it's open source and I could go looking)
Is anyone using the Git client “RetCon”?
Looks very interesting, but also potentially dangerous if it messes up.
Has anyone done any research on the relative energy consumption of training generative AI models vs all the teenagers sending each other zillions of meme images and videos all day long?
This is old from @jessitron , and I only just read it, but it is poignant.

This is wild if you make it be crazy. But it’s also wild if you point it (Google’s NotebookLM) at a real website and ask for the voice summary. I got a really nice 5 minute podcast all about me out of my blog. It made me really happy!! (YMMV)

I discovered something yesterday that I could swear was not true.
Neither PHPStorm not PHPStan on strict level 9 ensure that types are correct during simple assignment.
Like:
/** @var string $thing */
$thing = [];
gives NO ERRORS!!!!!
WHAT?!
It only works for class properties and constants?
Wow. I must have known, but I feel like I never knew.
