The Zig programming language guy is smart, considered, articulate and humble.
We need more people in tech like this.
I hope he doesn't lose his focus and values.
(My thoughts on a YouTube interview with him.)

The other day someone asked “What your low-stakes conspiracy theory?”
And I knew I had one but could NOT remember at the time. It’s this:
The famous crop circles of Wiltshire are Swindon’s transport planning dept trying out new roundabout layouts!
Today I am at Bletchley Park. Home of the WWII code breaking effort. Fascinating place.
But I note that geese weren’t even valued in the 1940s!
Content warning:Rant. Minor spoiler for Connections puzzle.
NO Connections. I know you’re in the “New York” Times, but you are WRONG!!!
I saw that Mermaid.js is now mermaid.ai today.
It’s a frickin’ diagram tool!! What?!
I’m wondering if @jessie has seen this? Could be some inspiration for your class!
What’s been super-nice this evening is dropping some emails out to people that reported issues with Turbo Admin. They all get saved and logged and I aim to reply to each one when their issue is fixed.
My customers are so nice and I love interacting with them.
Turbo Admin v1.22.0 is out with the Firefox iframe fixes – amongst some other minor things.
Useful thing… I’ve improved front-end detection of WordPress APIs, so you can pop the palette up on your favourite WP sites to search them!
(This was broken for a while)
I’ve had a couple of reports of my Turbo Admin browser extension injecting its palette code into places it shouldn’t when using Firefox. Seems I was a bit over-enthusiastic with my iframe handling!
Fix is identified and implemented and will be released very soon.
Apologies if this impacted you.
Please sign my petition to institute a temporary and UK-nationwide standard working day of 6am – 10am and 4pm – 8pm.
Everyone gets a long siesta and doesn’t have to work though the hottest part of the day.
Thanks in advance for your vote!
Realising that this is my tokens == fossil fuels analogy from the other day. It works perfectly!
Since cars became a thing, I’ve had zero urge to walk. Something I’ve done my entire adult life.
Just genuinely depressed. How can you get anywhere while watching money leave your bank account for moving? And how can you get that dopamine hit knowing you wasted time when a can could have got you there faster?
The only people left walking will be those with effectively unlimited fuel budgets. End of an era for regular travellers.
Why do I have to do anything here? Seems like their mistake and they need me to make some important legal declaration to fix it?
Anyone know what I should do here? Anyone else been through this? Does it really take 4 years to execute a will? Is this a recognised scam of some sort?
So frickin’ weird…
Four years ago I had a letter addressed to my business about someone leaving a legacy in their will – not to my company, but to a charitable organisation with a similar name.
All seemed pretty suspicious. But I contacted the solicitors and they were going to look into it.
Yesterday (!) I get a follow up from a different legal company telling me I need to disclaim my interest under the will.
Seems like a scam, but also seems very real.
I have a safety recall in my car. The phone for the dealership isn’t working. I’m live chatting with someone. They seem to be following a script and they are very unconcerned about the phone issue. But… responses are not instant or with a predictable delay.
Is it a bot? It’s uncanny-valley territory. Should I ask for the blueberry muffin recipe?
Cross-posting in the Indigo social app is great. Except when you want to write something a little longer.
Idea: I’d love to be able to have a “page break” that splits a longer Mastodon post into a multi-post Bluesky thread when cross-posting!

I'm sure I've said this before but I think we should view AI "tokens" like fossil fuels. They are single-use and supply is costly and unpredictable.
Most computer programs are more like "solar panels". They cost to build but subsequent use is essentially free.
If you use tokens at all, you should use them to build programs that remove the future need for tokens.
Use what you have now to build "solar panels". Not "engines".
The prompts/placeholders in the new post screen in the Indigo app are so good. 😆
Chat today with a friend who thinks their son is ASD, their daughter is ADHD. They themselves are diagnosed as ADHD now too.
I know we're just better at recognising & naming these things now. I know that we find each other.
But so many people in my sphere (even outside of work) are neurodiverse.
It really does feel like something changed. Did it? Or did we just have our eyes opened to it?
I’m struggling to reconcile the reality of SO many actually ND people with “Oh, we just never noticed”.
Loads of sites and apps have the colourful monospace terminal look these days. Is it an AI smell? Or just a design trend?
